The Tampa Bay Catholic Lawyers Guild was founded in 1985 in Tampa, Florida by a dedicated group of lawyers and Judges, in order to be of service to the Tampa Bay, Florida community. Perhaps equally as important, it attempts to raise the public perception of the Legal Profession in general.

This organization welcomes as its members lawyers, judges, paralegals, law students and law enforcement personnel from the Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee, Sarasota, Hernando and Polk County, Florida Region. We strive to provide Christian service to our communities through the observance of the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy to our neighbors because, as Christ taught us, everyone is our neighbor.

The Tampa Bay Catholic Lawyers Guild’s signature event is the annual celebration of the Red Mass, for Lawyers, Judges and Law Enforcement personnel and others in the Legal Profession. This Red Mass has, in the past, attracted several United States Supreme Court Justices and is celebrated by our Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg.

The Tampa Bay Catholic Lawyers Guild also serves our Community through events such as National Law Day (May 1 annually) classroom and assembly presentations to local grade school and High School students, with the general theme “What it means to be a Christian Lawyer in today’s Society.” The Guild also participates and supports St. Michael’s Legal Center, a no-cost legal clinic for women and children who have suffered the pains of a dissolution of their marriages.

** The Annual Red Mass for Lawyers, Judges, Legal and Law Enforcement will be celebrated by Bishop Robert Lynch on Friday, November 30 at noon at Sacred Heart Church, 601 North Florida Avenue in Downtown Tampa.
